TABI SHOES

The Tabi is Maison Margiela’s signature split-toe footwear, which made its debut in 1988. Inspired by the traditional 15th-century Japanese sock of the same name, it has been continually reinterpreted across all collections.

For his first fashion show, Martin Margiela transformed the traditionally flat footwear into heeled boots and dipped the soles in red paint, allowing the boots to leave footprints with split toes as the models walked down the white catwalk.
