Article: Da Vittorio's Panettone

Da Vittorio's Panettone

With three stars and a member of the prestigious Michelin Red Guide, Da Vittorio is one of the great restaurants on the Italian gastronomic landscape. Founded by Vittorio Cerea, its cuisine is characterised by an unmistakable culinary style, whose dynamism and vitality have accompanied the house for over 50 years. Care, attention and exploration of Lombard tradition and creativity are the leitmotiv of this luxury restaurant, located in a rural landscape just ten minutes from Bergamo, very close to Milan.

As one of the most unique culinary spaces in Italy, its patisserie is as passionate and delicious as one would expect. A place of free experimentation and pure enjoyment for Enrico Cerea (the eldest son of Vittorio and Bruna), the Da Vittorio patisserie bakes new trends and reinterprets the great classic desserts. Among its flavourful specialities is one that has become synonymous with the house: the panettone.

This traditional Italian Christmas treat, which has been enjoyed in Milan at this time of year since the 15th century, is expertly handmade by the restaurant's pastry chefs and is filled, in its traditional version, with small sweet pieces of fruit and high quality raisins. Not all panettone are the same; following a historical and artisanal process, the traditional dessert takes up to four days to make. Always made from sourdough, its production requires time and patience, as the dough needs to rest to acquire the spongy texture that makes it unique. This year you can find Da Vittorio's panettone, both in the traditional Milanese recipe and in its artisanal chocolate version, in our stores, to give as a gift or to enjoy at home.
