In 2025, the unmistakable Loewe Puzzle bag turned ten. A milestone that marks not only a decade of commercial success, but the consolidation of a new approach to contemporary leathercraft. Introduced in 2014 as the first bag under Jonathan Anderson’s creative direction, the Loewe Puzzle bag was born with a cuboid form inspired by Japanese origami. Its geometric silhouette, crafted from panels of leather assembled with artisanal precision in Spain, reflects the union of traditional savoir-faire and conceptual innovation.
Evolution and models of the Loewe Puzzle bag
The Puzzle bag made its debut without a handle in Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2015 menswear collection. That same summer (men’s summer shows take place in June, and women’s in September), its final version was unveiled during the womenswear show, marking the beginning of a series of stylistic transformations that quickly turned it into a Loewe icon. Over the past ten years, it has evolved through new sizes, materials, prints, and artistic collaborations, always maintaining its constructivist soul. Adorned with artwork and collaborations with animation studios, the Puzzle bag has found its own voice through constant reinvention.
Over time, various iterations have emerged, including travel bags, belt bags, wallets, and totes, such as the Loewe Puzzle Fold. This latest version offers an original and elevated take on the classic shoulder tote, with a foldable, functional design that echoes the Puzzle bag’s iconic geometry.
The classic Loewe Puzzle bag comes in a range of standard sizes. The Mini Puzzle Bag is the smallest, compact, minimal, yet big enough to fit a large smartphone. Next, the Small Puzzle Bag offers roughly 30% more capacity, with room for a planner, a small water bottle, and other essentials. Finally, the Medium and Large Puzzle Bags are the most spacious, fitting a tablet or even a laptop, ideal for work, travel, and everyday versatility.
Celebrating 10 years of the Loewe Puzzle
To mark its tenth anniversary, Loewe released the Puzzle 10 collection: a limited-edition capsule featuring 19 re-editions and a brand-new commemorative design. The line celebrates key moments in the Puzzle’s journey, from the original “Runway FW15” to iconic editions like “William Morris”, “Patchwork”, “Joe Brainard” and “Paula’s Ibiza Kiwi”. Each bag retains its singular charm, from pop-art prints to floral embroidery and geometric motifs inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement.
The standout piece is the Confetti bag, hand-embroidered with thousands of pastel leather sequins, a tribute to Loewe’s FW23 runway show and the work of Italian artist Lara Favaretto. This model stands as a joyful symbol of a decade of aesthetic experimentation and Spanish-made craftsmanship.
Ten years on, the Loewe Puzzle bag remains an essential wardrobe icon. A structural, versatile and deeply artistic bag that encapsulates Jonathan Anderson’s legacy and the artisanal spirit of the Spanish house.
