Article: Denim Days

Denim Days

Jeans are arguably one of the most versatile and universal pieces of clothing. With a history spanning many decades, they have shifted from workwear to being considered an icon for diverse cultural movements, eventually entering the world of fashion.

"I have often said that I wish I had invented blue jeans", said Yves Saint Laurent to New York Magazine in 1983. "They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity — all I hope for in my clothes."

While becoming increasingly popular the silhouettes and cuts multiplied, gaining different meanings when associated with certain subcultures and lifestyles. Today, every brand and designer present all kinds of alternatives — here we select some of the ones we like the most.

Vintage silhouette and wash
A true icon that is more relevant than ever. High waist, straight or slightly wide leg, and a medium or light blue shade. From Balenciaga to Alexander Wang vintage-inspired jeans are a staple reinterpreted by all our favorite designers.

White denim
While they may not be an option for everyone, white jeans also have their place, and are a much sought-after alternative during the warmer months. Victoria Beckham crafts them in natural denim and Off-White opts for optic white with a straight cut.

Distressed and relaxed
Over time and with the eventual imperfections from wear, jeans develop their own unique character. Givenchy anticipates the process beautifuly in its cropped, ripped-effect jeans with an intricate patchwork, as seen in its latest show. The Elvira trousers convey the bohemian ease that defines Isabel Marant with its unfinished hem.

Flared leg
The style that is synonymous with the seventies is back together with oversized volumes as a strong trend. The Row's Issa jeans or the pleated version from Loewe are our season favorites.

Organic cotton
The increasing demand for transparency and sustainability continues —fortunately— to influence most of the brands' agenda. Boyish presents the Tommy jeans in recycled cotton and Ganni makes denim from organic cotton.

No matter what kind of jeans you are looking for this summer, we are sure you will be able to find it online or in- store, where we will be pleased to assist you.
