Sustainability in Gucci jeans for men

*In 2023, Gucci’s ‘Denim Project’ initiative received the prestigious Ellen MacArthur Foundation Award for Circular Economy at the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards, held on September 24 at Milan’s Teatro alla Scala. This recognition was awarded for incorporating circular economy principles throughout its value chain, aiming to eliminate waste and pollution while enhancing the durability, reuse, recycling, and second life of its products.

This award followed last year’s CNMI Climate Change Award, which highlighted Gucci’s efforts in promoting regenerative agriculture.

The 'Denim Project' encourages scalable collaboration and circularity at every step of the process. It was developed at Gucci’s Circular Hub, in collaboration with International Promo Studio, Candiani Denim, and Filatura Astro. The project is meticulously designed, adhering to Gucci’s comprehensive circular guidelines. It combines 74% regeneratively grown cotton fibers from the Algosur farm in Spain, certified by Regenagri®, with 26% post-consumer recycled (PCR) fibres, collected and reused in Italy.

The resulting denim garments are designed to better withstand the blending of materials with PCR cotton, enhancing durability and ensuring recyclability at the end of their lifecycle.

The first products developed under the 'Denim Project' have been available since 2024 and include a digital passport that tracks the journey from raw materials to manufacturing. Additionally, it provides product care information for customers.
