8 QUESTIONS WITH OUR FOUNDER

Speaking with Élida Nogueira means stepping into four decades of sensitivity, intuition, and lived elegance. Her voice carries the calm of someone who has built a project with meticulous patience and a clear, profoundly humanistic vision. She does not speak of fashion as a passing trend, but as a language, a way of expressing who we are, how we evolve, and what we seek at each stage of life. For her, dressing is an act of respect toward oneself and toward others.

That philosophy is, in essence, the guiding thread of OTTODISANPIETRO, the space she founded in 1986 and which has since become a cultural and stylistic reference in A Coruña and throughout Spain. In a sector where everything changes at dizzying speed, Élida has managed to preserve a rare balance: moving forward without losing authenticity, adapting without abandoning intuition, and innovating without forgetting the importance of the human.

Her words reveal the intimate perspective of a woman who has made fashion an act of devotion. In her responses, there is a constant sense of gratitude toward her clients, and an emphasis on the value of commitment and integrity within her team. There is also a piece of advice that encapsulates a lifetime of work.

To know Élida is to understand why OTTODISANPIETRO has come this far, and why it will continue to inspire and move people for many years to come.

8 QUESTIONS WITH OUR FOUNDER

8 preguntas con Élida Nogueira

Do you have a message you would like to share with your clients?

What I always want to say is: thank you. Thank you, many times over. They inspire me, they allow me to be, and they allow me to grow.

What is the first thing you notice when you meet someone new?

Their attitude. I like when they help guide the type of attention we’re going to give them.

What do you value most in a member of your team?

Their commitment to the company. Loyalty and integrity. These are values that bring great peace, and from there, you can build true complicity.

What has changed the most in fashion during your 40 years in the industry?

I would say that more than fashion, society has changed. Habits, formats, the arrival of online, selling through WhatsApp… As for trends, they are always a response to new forms of contemporary life. That is what we try to express through our selections: a vision of the present seen through the eyes of the great fashion houses.

Is fashion really as cyclical as they say?

Yes, it is absolutely cyclical. Because history can never be forgotten, it is the foundation.

A piece of advice you would give to the entrepreneurs of tomorrow?

I’m not sure what to tell you. You have to fall in love with your work so that you can give it the best of yourself without sparing time, which is the most precious asset, and embrace continuous learning as a source of stimulation.

Is there a piece of advice that has marked your personal and professional development?

Never regret what you have done well.

Any anecdote worth highlighting after 40 years of travel, buying, and fashion?

I think what never stops surprising me is the unconditional attitude of my clients, and of the brands as well. It impresses me deeply.

Four decades shaped by fashion, art and vision

Founded in 1986 by Élida NogueiraOTTODISANPIETRO was born from a simple yet ambitious idea: to offer northern Spain a fashion experience comparable to that of the great luxury capitals. From its first store at 41st Juan Flórez Street, it quickly became a meeting point for a cosmopolitan clientele eager to discover the most exclusive collections of the moment.

The story began a few years earlier, when Élida, then a young professional in the textile sector, traveled to Italy. There, she encountered the pure Milanese elegance of the 1970s and the spirit of boutiques where every garment told a story of emotion and dedication. Upon returning to A Coruña, she decided to bring that philosophy with her, matching her aesthetic sensitivity with an entrepreneurial vision that was unusual for the time. On March 13th, 1986, she opened the doors of OTTODISANPIETRO: a women’s store featuring houses such as Giorgio Armani, and offering a new notion of luxury rooted in quiet elegance.

Throughout the 1990s, the project grew, expanded its offering, and consolidated its aesthetic vision. In 1998, OTTO Íntimo opened its doors, dedicated to lingerie and swimwear, while the main store underwent a transformation led by Italian architects specialized in luxury retail.

The turn of the century brought definitive expansion. In 2006, OTTODISANPIETRO menswear was inaugurated, and shortly afterward, the second generation of the family joined the project, shaping a space defined by closeness, curiosity, passion, and international vision. In 2010, the brand launched its online store, becoming a pioneer of digital luxury in Spain.

The last decade has strengthened its role as a cultural space. In 2013, the exhibitions Ventanas a las Galerías and Ron Galella confirmed its close relationship with contemporary art. In the following years, the brand unified its spaces, launched its app, and consolidated a global digital presence, always maintaining its artisanal essence.

In 2024, after nearly forty years on Juan Flórez Street, OTTODISANPIETRO inaugurated its new Juana de Vega space, designed by Elsa Urquijo. More than five hundred square meters where fashion, architecture, and art coexist with an almost symbiotic naturalness.

Today, Élida Nogueira and her daughter Verónica lead a house that continues to evolve without diluting its quiet spirit. OTTODISANPIETRO is living history of contemporary luxury: a place where every detail matters, where elegance is lived as a form of culture, and where fashion remains, above all, an expression of beauty and emotion.
