THE CODES OF MONCLER CLOTHING

To speak of Moncler is to speak of innovation. A house that pushed the limits of performance wear, elevating its technical origins into a symbol of contemporary luxury. All thanks to its most iconic and essential piece: the Moncler down jacket. Originally designed for extreme climates, the brand transformed its mountaineering expertise into a global aesthetic language, achieved through a series of key moments. Its new Fall/Winter 2025 campaign, starring Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham, reminds us that beyond its sport-driven appeal, Moncler holds a distinct urban and international presence.

Today, Moncler stands out for its steadfast commitment to innovation, traceability, and sustainability, as a true pioneer in the fashion industry. Let’s explore the defining elements that make this house both iconic and indispensable for every season of life.

THE CODES OF MONCLER CLOTHING

Moncler, London, Brooklyn & Nicola Peltz Beckham

The new Moncler Pre-Fall 2025 Collection campaign is a love letter to London. Following chapters in Madrid, Paris and New York, the brand turns its gaze to the British capital with none other than Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham, fashion icons of a new generation.

Titled London, A Love Affair, the campaign captures the couple in a documentary-style lens, wandering through personal corners of the city. The story is deeply intimate, and Moncler’s clothing becomes a narrative thread, tying together a love story that feels both unique and universally resonant.

The pieces in this collection reflect Moncler’s urban and sophisticated side, with an emphasis on natural fabrics and clean layers. Think tweed coats, bouclé wool, shearling accents and classic nylon textures. The wardrobe is cosmopolitan, rendered in warm neutrals. Womenswear speaks through enveloping shapes and layered textures, with a cinematic mood. The menswear approach leans into contemporary uniform dressing, often expressed in monochrome ensembles.

Moncler's design philosophy is clear: "Born in the mountains, lives in the city."It expresses a highly technical origin while embracing a global elegance that transcends environments.

How did Moncler begin?

Founded in 1952 in Monestier-de-Clermont (Mon-Cler), a small alpine village in France, Moncler began as a manufacturer of mountain gear, suits, tents, windbreakers, and other technical textiles. Its early focus was geared toward expeditions and winter sports, and it quickly stood out for its pioneering use of down insulation, both ultralight and exceptionally warm. The brand’s technical prestige grew steadily: in 1968, Moncler dressed the French Olympic team for the Winter Games in Grenoble, cementing its status as a performance leader.

But Moncler wouldn’t remain a purely mountaineering label. Its transformation came in 2003, when Remo Ruffini acquired the brand. Through a visionary strategy, Ruffini elevated the label’s utilitarian DNA into the realm of luxury, without compromising on its technical innovation. In time, Moncler began collaborating with celebrated designers like Giambattista Valli and Thom Browne, creating Gamme Rouge (womenswear) and Gamme Bleu (menswear), merging athletic savoir-faire with high fashion.

Recent chapters in the brand’s history include the unforgettable haute couture collections by Pierpaolo Piccioli, known for their voluminous, vibrant silhouettes in classic Moncler down. One of them even made its way onto TV, worn by none other than Carrie Bradshaw. In 2018, Moncler launched Moncler Genius, a cultural initiative redefining collaboration, inviting creative voices like Simone Rocha, Craig Green and Hiroshi Fujiwara to reinterpret the brand’s codes.

At the peak of technical performance sits Moncler Grenoble, a line made for the most extreme alpine conditions and active mountain lifestyles.

Moncler Jackets and Clothing

Moncler’s identity has been built around a single icon: the down jacket. From its origins in the French Alps to its standing in high fashion, this piece has outfitted Olympic athletes and global travellers alike, merging cutting-edge function with unmistakable style. Today, in both womenswear and menswear, the Moncler puffer jacket remains at the heart of each collection, reinterpreted every season through new materials, finishes, tones and silhouettes.

But Moncler’s innovation goes beyond aesthetics. The brand leads the industry in quality standards, supply-chain traceability and animal welfare. Each garment includes a code that traces the origin of the down used, ensuring complete transparency and sustainable production. These initiatives have positioned Moncler as the only fashion brand to top the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for more than six consecutive years.

In the men’s wardrobe, the Moncler jacket holds a privileged place for its timeless, versatile appeal. In womenswear, lacquered finishes and pastel tones bring a luxurious softness to the house’s signature shapes. Still, Moncler’s approach to gender distinction is unified by a shared language: ultra-lightweight design, thermal protection, and an unmistakable aesthetic, equally suited to a snowy mountain retreat or a walk through a cosmopolitan city.
